Dr Emma Salgard Cunha

Dr Emma Salgard Cunha specialises in British literature, especially theological literature, in the period 1660-1800.  Her research focuses primarily on the writings of John Wesley, founder and leader of the early British Methodist Societies. She is currently working on her first monograph, John Wesley, Practical Divinity and the Defence of Literature, and editing the 2017 special edition of the journal Religion in the Age of Enlightenment.

She was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, where she completed her PhD in 2013. Before taking up her post at Middlebury-CMRS in January 2016, Emma taught eighteenth-century studies at King's College, Cambridge. She is also College Lecturer in Theology at Keble College, Oxford.
