Saul, The Oxford Illustrated History of Medieval England (1997); (as co-editor and contributor) Belief and Culture in the Middle Ages (2001); ‘Women and the word of God’, in D. Wood (ed.), Women and Religion in Medieval England (2003); and (as co-editor and contributor) Christina of Markyate (2005).

Research and teaching interests include the history of  piety, cultural identities of the British Isles and the history of women.
