CMRS International Rhetoric Symposium 2012
Great interest is growing in CMRS's specialist conference, Rhetoric in the Twenty-First Century: An Interactive Symposium with applications already in from the United States, Canada, Europe and further afield. Co-chaired by Professor James J. Murphy (Emeritus, University of California, Davis) and Dr Nicholas Crowe, between July 3 and 7, the symposium will feature keynote lectures by four of the world’s leading rhetoric scholars – Sir Brian Vickers, Peter Mack, Jennifer Richards and James J. Murphy.
Participants will be invited to discuss the current state of research in rhetoric in their own specializations, as well as its possible futures. After all opinions and interpretations have been aired, the symposium will conclude with a ‘parliamentary’-style debate which will identify the most fruitful directions for the study of rhetoric to take as it grows and evolves.
This exciting new development is part of an annual programme of conferences, seminars, symposia and other events designed to provide faculty with the opportunity to come to CMRS in the summer months, to meet old friends and colleagues and make new ones, and to advance and refine their own interests in the cordial and stimulating environment which we aim to create for them.
